Job Description: 

To provide expertise of a technical and business nature related to Application, Desktop, Network, Security & Access Management Server Supports in addressing opportunities/challenges. The Application & Technical Support Specialist 1 will provide technical first and second level support for the desktop infrastructure.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Schedules work and sets priorities.
  • Provides expertise in assessment, analysis, evaluation of alternatives and resolution of issues & problems.
  • Liaises and co-ordinates with internal & external groups on resolution of problems. Assists in all aspects of project management of client divisional initiatives as the technical lead on project teams.
  • Recommends preventative solutions to mitigate recurrence of similar problems.
  • Develops and recommends improvements to current environment, policies & processes.
  • Acquires and disposes of hardware and software.
  • Configures network and server-related hardware and software.
  • Monitors and maintains access and security of data and infrastructure.
  • Configures of server hardware and software.
  • Advises desktop configuration management teams on hardware & software technologies and deployment alternatives including local sustainment program lead for assessing, deploying and configuring for the division.
  • Advises network management teams on hardware & software technologies, connectivity and backup & recovery alternatives.
  • Advises security management & control teams on security-related technologies and access control alternatives.
  • Provides support for divisional applications such as ICON, PTMS, ADHOC, Front Desk, Liberty Recorder/Player,
  • Provides support for all technology in the courtroom / hearing room, tribunal environment including Audo Visual technology and integrations.
  • Responsible for Digital Audio Recording server for the division.
  • Performs capacity planning.
  • Prepares, directs, and recommends for approval training material and documentation for use by clients and staff.
  • Provides training to clients in use of technology.
  • Reviews work and provides guidance/training to staff.
  • Prepares statistics and drafts summary reports.
  • Supports the centralized management of access control.
  • Installs/rolls out application, configures and troubleshoots hardware, software and printing including taking inventory of such assets.
  • Attends committee meetings.
  • Travels to off-site locations.

 

Key Qualifications: 

 

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science, or related discipline, or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Extensive experience in a senior level I&T desktop support role assisting clients with configuring and troubleshooting technical issues with various supported software packages (e.g. Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and desktop imaging) in a large diverse computing environment.
  3. Considerable experience in advanced hardware configuration on desktops, peripherals and printers.
  4. Experience working as a technical lead on IT related initiatives/projects.

 

You must also have:

  • Knowledge of Wide Area Networks, Network Protocols and services (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP), Microsoft Active Directory domains, Novell/eDirectory, IManager, VPSX, Bomgar.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain good consulting relationships with Division clients, Provincial clients/partners, vendors and internal & external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication in order to understand user issues, provide coaching and training to staff
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as cooperatively with others in a dynamic team environment as well as in a project team setting.
  • Excellent organizational, conceptual, analytical, problem-solving, multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, plan, execute tasks and meet short competing deadlines.
  • Ability to lift/move equipment weighing up to 40lbs.
