Job Type & Duration: L79 Full-Time, Permanent & Temporary (12 months)
Hourly Rate and Wage Grade: $38.20 - $ 41.70
Shift Information: Monday to Sunday, 40 hours a week. Rotating Shifts: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, and 12:00 AM to 7:30 AM.

Major Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, schedules and coordinates custodial and facilities maintenance staff, tradesperson/contractors
- Plans, organizes and assigns employees to perform cleaning and maintenance of City facilities and/or leased property
- Patrols and inspects the condition of facility and progress of work to ensure security and that work is completed on schedule
- Ensures that all work performed is in compliance with all legislative regulations, including WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Responds to client inquiries and requests
- Inspects equipment and inventory on a scheduled basis
- Provides timely delivery of services
- Prepares and submits daily timesheets and attendance records
- Enforces appropriate bylaws, regulations and applicable legislation
- Prepares material requisition forms for orders of cleaning supplies and other operational equipment. Contacts suppliers as required. Maintains stock of cleaning supplies and necessary equipment
- Trains staff on operational requirements and operation of equipment
- Works with tenants, users, police, fire officials, security and contractors to keep building/facility safe and secure
- Monitors and evaluates the work of outside contractors and in-house tradespeople
- Monitors condition and operation of building/facility and reports any defects for repairs
- Performs all readings for heating plant, including chemical, temperature and pressure readings and any additional instrument readings as required, and maintains records of the same
- Sets up, moves and takes down furniture, chairs etc. for functions
- Assists in budget preparations
- Monitors expenses to meet approved budget
- Prepares requisition forms for Capital work
- Monitors HVAC system and responds to problems
- Monitors refrigeration equipment
- Completes and maintains records and log books
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Considerable demonstrated experience in directing unionized staff and trades/contractors.
- Experience in custodial or caretaking work with a of the equipment and materials used in the custodial/caretaking profession.
- Experience in implementing all health and safety procedures with particular emphasis in custodial/caretaking profession.
- Experience with computer applications (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook).
- Considerable experience with large commercial HVAC systems.
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS).
- Experience with facility alarm system operations.
- Possession of a valid Ontario Driver's Licence class "G" and ability to obtain and maintain City of Toronto Equipment Operator's Permit
You must also have:
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of staff and with the client/public.
- Ability to train and provide orientation to staff.
- Ability to promote a positive team working environment.
- Advanced knowledge of WHMIS, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts/weekends/on call as scheduled.
- Knowledge of corporate geographical boundaries.
- Building environment certificate or equivalent is an asset.
Police Records Check
It is a condition of employment with the Corporate Real Estate Management Division to pass and maintain a Police Security Clearance for any Toronto Police Services locations.
