We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Human Resources (HR) professional to join our Talent Acquisition team within the People & Equity (P&E) Division.

 

In this role, the Associate Recruitment will support internal and external junior level and high-volume recruitment processes. What will you do?

 

Reporting to the Senior Consultant Recruitment, this position will provide end-to-end recruitment services, including the administration of all phases of the recruitment function, while demonstrating a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and ongoing learning. This includes fulfilling client hiring requests through new hires, promotions, and transfers, as well as participating in layoff/recall and onboarding processes in accordance with relevant City policies, guidelines, collective agreements, and legislation.

 

The Associate Recruitment will work with divisional hiring managers to provide advice, consultation, and support on all aspects of the recruitment process including sourcing and screening candidates, developing assessments, and executing candidate correspondence at all stages of the job competition, up to and including job offer and onboarding. To ensure that we continuously meet our client needs, this position will build talent pipelines to recruit and attract qualified candidates. In addition, the incumbent will provide interpretation and information on City policies and collective agreement provisions as they relate to recruitment.

 

The Associate Recruitment will use their technical expertise to manage a full range of hiring requests using the City's applicant tracking system (SuccessFactors) to proficiently manage all stages of the job competition process. This includes but is not limited to, job postings, screening resumes, assessments, actively tracking applicant movement, onboarding and crossboarding candidates, and updating staff requisitions ensuring data accuracy. The incumbent will also support and participate on projects, maintain and analyze data, research information, create and maintain electronic files, and retrieve information from various systems.

 

What will you bring to this role?

 

  1. Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a relevant discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), or relevant professional designation/certificate is an asset.
  2. Considerable experience in the delivery of end-to-end recruitment services. Recruitment experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), HRIS systems such as SAP, SuccessFactors, etc., and virtual meeting and scheduling software such as WebEx.
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing demands, and adapt to changing priorities, with flexibility and resilience.
  5. A client-centric mindset with the ability to interact with employees of all levels, in a proactive, friendly, professional, and respectful manner.
  6. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to respond to enquiries, prepare correspondence and present information to diverse audiences.
  7. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to manage conflict and resistance, and to think critically with a solutions-focused approach.
  8. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  9. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in handling confidential information.
  10. Knowledge of and ability to interpret and advise on relevant employment legislation, e.g., Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, etc. and collective agreements.
  11. Ability to work independently and effectively without close supervision, and within a team environment, and develop and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, hiring managers, employees, union officials and the public.
  12. Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness, and ability to support the team’s goals and objectives, and provide meaningful input and feedback.
