The Trans, Non-Binary and Two-Spirit Youth Career Development Program is a paid, entry-level employment opportunity that offers you employability skill building in a professional field across the City of Toronto. This five month program provides Trans, Non-Binary and Two-Spirit youth aged 18-35 the opportunity to develop valuable work skills, learn about the organization and participate in professional development workshops that can help prepare you for future career success.

As an Administrative Trainee you may…

  • Assist with various office functions, such as, filing, data entry, photocopying, sending faxes etc.
  • Receives/logs data/information received
  • Assist with setting up meetings, records and circulates data
  • Support the team by answering calls, providing general information, taking messages and directing inquiries to appropriate staff to answer questions/handle requests
  • Collect data by distributing questionnaires and asking participants/groups for information/opinions etc.
  • Assist in inputting, retrieving, compiling, consolidating and maintaining data, statistics and document findings
  • Assist in drafting documents, correspondences, organization and presentation of data collected

 

Requirements

  • Experience in performing administration or clerical support duties or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum typing speed of 35 wpm (words per minute) and working knowledge of MSOffice (e.g. Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Experience providing customer service and responding to inquiries via telephone, email and in person
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work cooperatively within a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in an efficient and diplomatic manner
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients and members of the public
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential matters
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and meet deadlines
  • Use of MS Teams is an asset
