Job Summary:

The Business Systems Consultant & Architect (Analyst) is required to accomplish the Network Modernization Phase 1 Implementation project's deliverables within the planned schedule. You will work on implementing the modernization plan with all identified stakeholders and help the City make sense of all the business traffic, understand patterns and trends, and develop strategies for using new technologies to improve the overall operations. Due to the size and scope of the program, the project requires a dedicated Business Systems Consultant & Architect to support the project in consultation with key stakeholders.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Design and develop process workflows within the network, leveraging best practices and aligning with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements & timelines and translate them into efficient and scalable modernization workflows.
  • Work with network teams to configure and customize to automate processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Test and validate workflows to ensure they meet quality standards and functional requirements.
  • Document process workflows, including diagrams and technical specifications, to support knowledge sharing and training initiatives.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize network workflows to enhance performance and user experience.
  • Act as a liaison between the architecture, operations, and business teams to communicate changes and expected issues in non-production & production environments for asset management.
  • Provide trusted advice on how ITAM transformation and technology enablement can lead to improved performance, reduce risks, and optimize investments.
  • Understand and Document business and technical problems, including key best practices, business drivers, evolving business needs, licensing models.
  • Participate in defining requirements, processes, and procedures for network asset management strategies for the City of Toronto.
  • Clearly articulate requirements, proactively Collaborate with team, and facilitate development and testing activities to ensure the solution meets the business need.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with IT network service delivery, ensuring business continuity and resilience.
  • Optimize IT service management processes in alignment with ITIL best practices, to capture, Document, and disseminate valuable insights, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Perform assessment of current state, define target state, and prepare roadmap to achieve the target state.

Key Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. (or combination of education, work experience, and certifications)
  2. Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project) and agile methodologies.
  3. Experience with process mapping, and system design tools (e.g., Visio, Lucid chart).
  4. Experience leading and/or contributing to cross-functional teams.
  5. Extensive experience with workflow tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Microsoft Power Automate, Orchestrator).
  6. Experience performing current state assessments and developing roadmaps.
  7. Experience with IT Asset Management (ITAM) and the practical application of ITAM transformation strategies within an organization.
  8. Experience with ITIL / project management best practices

You must also have:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously which align with organizational objectives and timelines.
  • Ability to gather and document requirements from business users, translating them into technical specifications and actionable tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to analyze complex technical and business problems and propose solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies in both development and operational environments.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing priorities while maintaining focus on project milestones.
  • Stakeholder management expertise, including experience managing expectations and facilitating discussions between business units and technical teams.
  • Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP) or related process management certification is a plus.
  • ITIL Foundation (or higher certification) or equivalent IT service management certification is an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification can be an asset.
