The City’s Seniors Services and Long-Term Care Division supports Toronto seniors and residents in long-term care homes to have the healthiest, most fulfilling lives possible through exceptional care and services. Vulnerable individuals who reside in the community are supported through adult day programs, supportive housing services, tenancy support and homemakers and nurses services. Major Responsibilities:

Cleans, washes, strips and waxes floors and stairs.

Sets up, moves and takes down furniture, tables, chairs etc. for functions.

Cleans, polishes and dusts washrooms, locker rooms, offices, windows, air ducts etc.

Monitors and secures facilities and reports any damage, vandalism etc.

Cleans and stores equipment and machinery used.
-
Maintains light fixtures and replaces bulbs and related appliances.

Loads and unloads supplies and replenishes.

Defrost refrigerators.

Stocks and maintains cleaning cart.
-
Picks up garbage and recyclable and removes to designated areas.

Performs storekeeping duties.

Delivers clean linen, gowns and clothing to resident rooms. Labels and de-labels residents clothing.
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

Experience in following infection control protocols and procedures.
-
Experience in using floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipments, materials and solutions.

Experience in performing various cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.
You must also have:

Ability to lift, push, pull heavy items as well as climb ladders. Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays and shifts as assigned as well as work in multiple locations.

Ability to use computers to complete a work order and create a work order.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, prepare and maintain written records and use communication equipment such as telephone, walkie talkies, WIFI phones etc.

Ability and willingness to transport residents from their room to the dining area.

Ability to support the Toronto Public Service values to ensure a culture that champions Equity, Diversity and Respectful workplaces.

Knowledge of Resident Centered Care, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Occupational Health & Safety Act and Waste Management Protocols that apply to this work.

Knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care guidelines.

Must be mature and have an aptitude for working with elderly.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, residents and families.

Strong multitasking, attention to detail, customer service, time management and problem-solving skills.
Please note:
As a condition of employment with the Seniors Services & Long-Term Care Division, selected candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Reference Check (PRC) with vulnerable sector screening, tuberculosis screening and proof of immunization in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 (O. Reg 246/22).
