Reporting to the Supervisor Desktop Services, the Enterprise Technical Support Specialist will be part of the Corporate Security IT team, implementing and supporting new and existing security and CCTV technologies across the City. Act as team technical lead, leading activities such as gathering users / hardware information, development of testing scenarios, and other business analysis skills as required for successful project implementation.
Major Responsibilities:
- Performs analysis of enterprise software, hardware and transmission facility using diagnostic tools to ensure the optimum operation and maintenance of technology solutions.
- Ensures pro-active action is taken for the operation, installation and support of the enterprise systems and solutions.
- Provides assistance and technical support in the planning, assessment, design, construction and implementation of upgrades to the existing systems (CCTV, Access control) and enhancements/additions of future enterprise technologies.
- Conducts research and evaluations of enterprise hardware/software solutions and makes recommendations.
- Maintain security on all server hardware, software and network, including set up, patching and upgrades.
- Monitor enterprise systems, products and network usage, performance and capacity. Performs trend analysis for system improvements.
- Performs enterprise-wide user accounts administration including addition, deletion and change of user accounts according to approved policy, standards and procedures.
- Responds to user inquiries, investigates and analyzes problems and develops solutions and/or action plans.
- Conducts, updates and improves reviews of documentation, manuals, standards and procedures.
Key Qualifications:
Your application for the role of Enterprise Technical Support Specialist must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Post-secondary degree in computer science or related discipline, or the approved combination of education and experience working on large scale technology projects.
- Extensive experience with hands-on I&T technical support, supporting clients in a large, diverse computing environment.
- Extensive experience with Domain Administration, Group Policy and Active Directory Management.
- Considerable experience dealing with technical issues and advanced hardware configuration at the server, desktop, and local area network levels.
- Considerable experience in Access Control/CCTV systems.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.
You must also have:
- Ability to lead projects or teams, including demonstrated skills in using project management tools, applying methods and standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to provide troubleshooting support, prepare technical documentation and reports on problems and to deal effectively with all levels of management and staff.
- Strong understanding of server infrastructure, network and security.
- In depth Knowledge of Windows 10/11 operating systems.
- Strong understanding of SQL.
- Ability to prioritize, plan, organize and work independently and cooperatively with others in a team environment.
- Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven commitment to customer service, performance quality and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey, clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences.
- Linux knowledge is an asset.
- Knowledge of Service Now.
- Good understanding of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP etc).
- Must be willing to be on call for support of productions systems.
- Ability to lift/move equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to travel within the City of Toronto and access to a vehicle
