Job Description
 

As a member of the Business Intelligence Services team, the ERP Application Specialist (SAP BODS Lead) will lead Enterprise Applications Systems projects and operations by supporting the planning, developing and implementation of BI Solutions.

 


Major Responsibilities:
 

Your primary responsibilities as an ERP Application Specialist (SAP BODS Lead) will be varied. Specifically, you will:

  • Implement detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements.

  • Contribute to the planning and implementing of upgrades, new releases, new functionality and deployment of Enterprise Applications Systems.

  • Supervise, motivate and train assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.

  • Prepare documentation detailing the processes followed in the Enterprise Applications Systems and assist in the establishment of policies and procedures for these processes.

  • Monitor and administer Business Cases, Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Requests for Information (RFI).

  • Provide suggestions and advice to management on emerging technology trends in data services area and guidance on various Enterprise Applications Systems technology roadmaps.

  • Assist other areas of the City including Agencies, Boards and Commissions in their implementation of Enterprise Applications Systems Solutions.

  • Participate in the planning and developing of short and long term work packages.

  • Analyze the performance indicators and standards for the section to measure operational effectiveness, customer satisfaction and to establish employee objectives. Monitors customer service feedback as appropriate.

  • Provide analysis and input into the work estimates, status reports as required for sponsors, managers and/or senior management team.

  • Provide support to implement Enterprise Applications in City's divisions and include projects that affect the entire City operation as well as specific Agencies, Boards and Commissions as required through new implementations or upgrades.

  • Ensure corporate standards are maintained in the Enterprise Applications Systems.

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with division personnel by providing advice and guidance on the use of the Enterprise Applications Systems.

  • Provide support in finding solutions to issues/barriers identified in the operations of the Enterprise Applications Systems.

  • Participate on project teams that require technical expertise and leadership in areas involving Enterprise Applications Systems.

  • Provide support in the unit's operations related to Enterprise Applications Systems maintenance.

  • Provide support and advises to Divisions, City Agencies, Boards and Commissions on various issues related to Enterprise Applications Systems.

  • Ensure integrity and security of City's confidential data, records, reports and sensitive information in accordance with corporate policy and SAP standards.

  • Analyze the business needs and identifies best practices by analysis, validation and documentation of the business and system requirements.

  • Organize and assist in workshop creation to formalize designs, modifies and creates business processes that will be used to implement the business transformation solutions.

  • Participate in IT initiatives by following the systems development life cycle (SDLC) approach and successfully manages all the phases of initiation, planning, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of the Enterprise applications.

 


Key Qualifications:

 

Your application for the role of ERP Application Specialist (SAP BODS Lead) should describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related discipline with considerable development/sustainment experience in large-scale IT solutions, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  2. Extensive experience in data integration and data migration that connects various systems, applications and databases using RFC, APIs and other relevant technologies.

  3. Considerable experience in SAP Data Services in large-scale project implementations, covering the full project lifecycle as defined in ASAP methodology or Agile.

  4. Experience conducting research, analysis and data cleansing using SAP Data Services and SAP Information Steward.

  5. Experience in data warehouse / data lake modeling and best practices including experience with Microsoft SQL server, SQL scripting and SQL coding / testing but not limited to queries, stored procedures, triggers, database objects and indices and proficient in performance tuning.

 


You must also have:
 

  • Experience writing solution architecture documentation, using structured systems analysis and design techniques, systems development methodologies and templates, an asset.

  • Experience in SAC and Java Scripting, an asset.

  • Knowledge of relational, dimensional (Stars), and multidimensional (Cubes) data modelling. Knowledge of data architecture principles and best practices, including architectures supporting different data consumption requirements: operational data store, data warehouses, data marts, and analytical data stores. Understanding of data governance principles. Awareness of non-structured (Big Data) environments and analysis techniques.

  • Knowledge with SAP reporting platform and Tableau.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present and compose written documents appropriate for clients.

  • Strong customer service orientation along with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.

  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, facilitation, presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, collaboratively with others in a multidisciplinary team environment and independently, as required.

  • Advanced time management and estimation capabilities and ability to perform several tasks and projects concurrently.

  • Ability to develop technology standards, techniques and product specifications.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, and skills to evaluate and recommend new technology for introduction into a complex technical environment.

  • Ability to develop project plans, projections and cost/benefit analysis of proposed solutions.
