Major Responsibilities:

  • Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements.
  • Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.
  • Supervises the day to day operation of all assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work. Authorizes and coordinates vacation and overtime requests. Monitors and evaluates staff performance, approves salary increments, hears grievances and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
  • Contributes to the planning and implementing of upgrades, new releases, new functionality and deployment of Enterprise Applications Systems to new business units.
  • Prepares documentation detailing the processes followed in the Enterprise Applications Systems and assists in the establishment of policies and procedures for these processes.
  • Monitors and administers Business Cases, Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Provides suggestions and advice to management on emerging technology trends and guidance on various Enterprise Applications Systems technology roadmaps.
  • Assists other areas of the City including Agencies, Boards and Commissions in their implementation of Enterprise Applications Systems Solutions.
  • Participates in the planning and developing of short and long term work packages.
  • Participates in annual internal and external audit.
  • Analyzes the performance indicators and standards for the section to measure operational effectiveness, customer satisfaction and to establish employee objectives. Monitors customer service feedback as appropriate.
  • Provides analysis and input into the work estimates, status reports as required for sponsors, managers and/or senior management team.
  • Provides support to implement Enterprise Applications in City's divisions and include projects that affect the entire City operation as well as specific Agencies, Boards and Commissions as required through new implementations or upgrades.
  • Ensures corporate standards are maintained in the Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with division personnel by providing advice and guidance on the use of the Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Provides support in finding solutions to issues/barriers identified in the operations of the Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Participates on project teams that require technical expertise and leadership in areas involving Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Provides support in the unit's operations related to Enterprise Applications Systems maintenance.
  • Provides support and advises to Divisions, City Agencies, Boards and Commissions on various issues related to Enterprise Applications Systems.
  • Ensures integrity and security of City's confidential data, records, reports and sensitive information in accordance with corporate policy and SAP standards.
  • Analyzes the business needs and identifies best practices by analysis, validation and documentation of the business and system requirements.
  • Organizes and assists in workshop creation to formalize designs, modifies and creates business processes that will be used to implement the business transformation solutions.
  • Participates in IT initiatives by following the systems development life cycle (SDLC) approach and successfully manages all the phases of initiation, planning, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of the Enterprise applications.

Key Qualifications:

Your application for the role of ERP Application Specialist should describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. Post-secondary education in computer science, or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Extensive experience in integrating data from multiple sources, including databases, cloud services, and third-party APIs, to ensure seamless data connectivity.
  3. Considerable experience with Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric, identifying and gathering business requirements to build a data-driven analysis of performance, financials, risk & other KPls.
  4. Considerable experience in troubleshooting and resolving data modeling and visualization issues to ensure optimal performance and data accuracy.
  5. Experience in developing optimized data models, DAX calculations, and queries for efficient and reliable reporting.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge in implementing secure data practices, including data security in transit and at rest through robust storage solutions, access controls, encryption, and data masking techniques.
  7. Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI or Fabric licensing model is an asset.
  8. Experience in other analytics tools like SAP Analytics Cloud or Tableau is an asset.
  9. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and familiarity with tools like Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or SSIS.
  10. Knowledge of various on premise and cloud connections for data exchange (e.g. OData services, Salesforce, Google, SQL Databases, etc.).
  11. Solid grasp of ETL processes, data cleansing, and performance optimization for large datasets.
  12. Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present and compose written documents appropriate for clients.
  13. Strong customer service orientation along with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  14. Excellent problem-solving, leadership, facilitation, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  15. Ability to work effectively as a team member, collaboratively with others in a multidisciplinary team environment and independently, as required.
  16. Advanced time management and estimation capabilities and ability to perform several tasks and projects concurrently.
  17. Ability to develop technology standards, techniques and product specifications.
  18. Ability to work flexible hours including days, afternoons, nights and weekends, as required.
  19. Ability to be on call for support of production systems, as required.
