The JDA analysis procedure includes evaluating the behavioural/cognitive demands of City positions in addition to the more typical physical demands categories. You will work in the Occupational Health, Safety and Worker’s Compensation unit, within the Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness section of the People & Equity Division, which provides health and safety consultation to the City’s over 43,000 municipal employees.

- Arrange and coordinate on-site assessments/reviews with divisional management
- Travel within the City of Toronto to perform on-site assessments/reviews, data collection and interviews with management and workers. Compensation will be provided for travel within the workday

- Identify ergonomic risk factors and make recommendations for future corrective action(s)

- Self-motivated to work independently, with solid organizational skills to manage workload
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with workers and management
- Strong observational, communication skills, with attention to detail to gather required information that is needed for the JDA
- Excellent report-writing skills to convey information gathered during the JDA process into concise written reports
What is in it for you?
The work term will provide the Exempt Trainee (Ergonomics) with an opportunity to gain experience in a unionized work environment and to develop observational, analytical interpersonal and communication skills.
The candidate will be exposed to the various ergonomic challenges and solutions that appear within a large and diverse organization. The Exempt Trainee (Ergonomics) will work closely with and receive significant training, coaching and feedback from the City’s Ergonomics Consultants.
There may be opportunities to conduct some work remotely, with approval. However, this position requires the candidate to be on-site for the majority of the time.
