Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Performs accounting and purchasing duties i.e. reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling ledger accounts, setting up and maintaining expenditure and revenue spreadsheets, reconciling to the general ledger, reviewing and processing purchase requisitions, departmental purchase orders, blanket order releases, purchase card reconciliations, and reviewing, processing, and completing Level 1 approval for all Pcard transactions related to their programs. Performs aging analysis on payables and provides solutions to expedite invoice processing and parked document resolutions, submitting these resolutions in the bi-weekly AP Parked Documents Report.
  • Performs and maintains accounts receivable functions including bank deposits, processing invoices, reviewing aging reports, collection follow-up, and preparing and submitting AP interface payments to Corporate AP.
  • Prepares journal entries. Calculates and processes accruals and revenues for various operating/capital expenditures and revenues, and reclassifies and reallocates expenditures and revenues.
  • Prepares and reviews petty cash vouchers and maintains records with respect to petty cash, and performs audits of petty cash funds, documenting the findings accordingly.
  • Investigates and analyzes problems associated with account reconciliation, SAP documents, dishonoured cheques, and credit card transactions, and takes corrective action.
  • Provides information in response to inquiries/complaints and exchanges information with the public and staff, and provides financial guidance and assistance to TPH Programs to ensure City’s policies and procedures are followed and financial controls are in place.
  • Prepares working papers and coordinates with internal auditors and Accounting Services in Corporate Finance for year-end audits and closing of accounts.

 

Key Qualifications:

 

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

 

  1. Degree or Diploma in an accounting or business discipline or enrollment in the CPA (Chartered Professional Accountants) program, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the accounting/finance field.
  2. Considerable experience in the analysis and interpretation of financial data.
  3. Considerable experience with computerized accounting systems and applications such as SAP, word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  4. Considerable experience with, purchasing, and accounts payable process and procedures.

  • Knowledge of financial policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, and multi-tasking skills with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision, prioritize work schedules, plan and execute assigned duties within timelines.
  • Ability to work in teams and maintain cooperative relationships.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate at all organizational levels with internal and external clients
