This is an amazing opportunity to work collaboratively with the Compensation/Total Rewards team, to conduct research and analyze data in order to note trends and make recommendations and to provide administrative support to the Compensation/Total Rewards Section.


What will you do?

  • Participates on a team of human resources professionals providing compensation/total rewards services and consultation to clients, including job design, job profile preparation and job evaluation, pay equity, wage/salary administration and compensation policy interpretation.
  • Participates in team projects with the Director, Managers, Senior Consultants and Consultants; researches material and analyzes data in support of research projects and compensation/total rewards initiatives.
  • Recommends development of, or changes to, current practices and approaches to enhance service delivery and best practice development. Assists in implementing new programs.
  • Conducts and participates in salary surveys, researches and analyzes data. Summarizes findings and trends.
  • Makes recommendations based on data analysis. Prepares presentation materials to support the decision making process.
  • Maintains, updates, supports and enhances various technical and functional aspects of various systems,  including trouble shooting of technical and application problems.
  • Maintains data tracking sheets and ensures data integrity for future reporting and analysis.
  • Participates in the design, development and delivery of training tools for various partners.
  • Supports project communications as well as the design, development and maintenance of the Compensation internal and external web site.
  • Prepares internal and external equity reports based on the market analysis.
  • Prepares compensation/total rewards dashboard to provide an overview to the senior leadership.
  • Liaises with all levels of staff, unions, the public, government agencies, and external organizations.
  • Prepares, designs and creates documents including forms or templates, presentation slides and manuals.
  • Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
  • Retrieves information from various electronic systems and manual files and responds to employee and client inquiries.
  • Works as part of a team as well as works independently to deliver compensation/total rewards related services.
  • Prepares and distributes various compensation/total rewards related correspondence.

 

What do you need to succeed?

  1. Post-secondary education in a relevant (Human Resources, Business, etc.) discipline and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or other relevant professional designation/certificate is an asset.
  2. Knowledge of compensation, job evaluation and pay equity principles. Experience in these fields is an asset.
  3. Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities with experience in research, data collection methodologies, data analysis and reporting. Must be thorough and attentive to details.
  4. Experience providing strong customer service and establishing effective working relationships by delivering skilled and professional support to clients, HR partners, City employees and senior management.
  5. Experience in coordinating initiatives, involving a variety of stakeholders.
  6. Experience using a variety of software packages including Word and Power Point, SAP modules, SuccessFactors and advanced experience with Excel spreadsheets and access databases.
  7. Knowledge of the Pay Equity Act and employment and related legislation such as the Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Collective Agreements and human resource policies and practices.
  8. Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to take initiative, work effectively independently and as part of a team, by participating in achieving the teams' goals and objectives, making contributions and providing input and feedback.
  10. Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
