In this permanent, full-time Human Resources (HR) business partnering role, the Manager Relationship Management will build and maintain trusted relationships with leadership across the City divisions and their respective Services Areas and support leaders in the successful delivery of people management practices and capabilities.

 

As a proven HR leader, you will leverage your strong background in business partnering and knowledge of HR best practices, with your ability to translate your clients’ business needs into strategic, proactive and actionable people plans, interventions and priorities.

 

What will you do?

Reporting to the Director, Relationship Management, you will lead and coach a team of HR Business Partners (HRBPs) in the effective delivery of strategic HR consultation and guidance in key areas, including talent management, workforce and succession planning, career and leadership development, employee engagement, non-union employee relations, as well as compliance and HR policy. You will manage, motivate and ensure the HRBPs are supported, trained and produce high standards of work quality and performance with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.

 

You will be instrumental in ensuring that HR practices and processes support and embrace diversity and promote a culture of inclusion and innovation.

 

In this role you will partner with and engage all areas of the People & Equity Division to provide customized people solutions, in alignment with City-wide, Divisional and Service Area workforce goals and priorities, proactively sharing relevant business insights from client groups. You will analyze workforce data and analytics to formulate insights and recommendations, and to integrate solutions.

 

As a trusted senior advisor, you will develop a strong understanding of the overall strategy and divisional challenges of your clients and their respective Services Areas, anticipate workforce trends and risks, and advise divisional and Service Area leadership accordingly.

 

Applying your strategic focus, collaborative approach and your leadership experience, you will support and coach leaders in the effective management of their teams.

 

As a Manager, Relationship Management, you will ensure the effective implementation of HR policies, systems, processes and procedures (e.g. hiring, performance management, promotion, termination etc.), providing consultation and advice to senior leaders in the areas of expansion, downsizing and restructuring, from an HR perspective.

 

Your background in change management and business transformation will enable you to play a significant role in shaping and managing decisions and processes, partnering and advising with the implementation of change management initiatives, and support divisional and Service Area transformations.

 

A results oriented leader, you will contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of people systems, processes and practices. This role will provide you with the opportunity to oversee the implementation of any changes in the organization structure of your client divisions and Services Areas, to ensure alignment with their requirements for maximum organizational effectiveness.

What do you bring to the role?

You have extensive human resources experience in complex, preferably unionized environment. Post-secondary education in Human Resources will be an asset, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience, complimented by your CHRL designation (an asset).

 

To be successful in this leadership role, you will have considerable management experience leading teams of HR business partners in a large complex organization, paired with advanced knowledge of employment legislation and employee relations. A devoted leader, you bring considerable experience leading, motivating and developing a team of staff, supporting and promoting an inclusive and respectful workplace culture. You demonstrate leadership of equity, reconciliation and inclusion initiatives.

 

You also bring extensive consulting experience including recommending, adapting, integrating and implementing strategies to enable change and ensure progressive and proactive human resources programs and solutions.

 

Your experience leading and managing change, process redesign and improvement will be instrument in this pivotal role.

 

Your success in this senior position will benefit significantly from your strong ability to establish relationships at all organizational levels, and exercise independent judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential matters, paired with ability to instill trust and become a go-to partner for divisional and Service Area leaders to understand their broad and specific HR needs and assist divisional leaders in reaching their immediate and longer term goals. You also possess well developed interpersonal skills with a strong ability to interact and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
