The successful candidate is required to adhere to a hybrid work model, with a minimum of three days per week in the downtown office, in accordance with organizational policies and subject to change.

 

 

The City of Toronto’s Human Resource Business Intelligence Service is undergoing an exciting transformation, re-imaging the way data, reporting, and BI tools are used to help the City manage its most important resource, its people.

 

Equal parts strategic thinker and technical expert, you’ll use your extensive experience using SAP SuccessFactors Story reporting to help build a roadmap that optimizes how we use SuccessFactor’s reporting capabilities alongside the new data platform we’re currently building. As part of a team, you’ll lead planning to help our existing analytics group to transition from legacy tools and processes, and also re-developing existing SuccessFactors reports in Stories to help answer the most important HR questions for the organization.

 

You’ll act as a bridge between business and technical teams working with data architects, integrators and platform leads to define reporting requirements,

prepare data mapping, prototyping, UAT, and deployment ensuring solutions meet business needs. You will also contribute to the development of reporting governance, data quality practices, and the long-term sustainability of the new reporting environment.

 

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead activities to guide the transition of the HR Analytics team from legacy reporting solutions to SuccessFactors Stories
  • Analyze existing reporting assets, document data dependencies, and recommend improvements aligned with future-state analytics and governance standards.
  • Assist with defining and documenting business use cases, requirements for new and enhanced HR reporting
  • Translate complex HR business needs into clear technical specifications, reporting logic, and design documentation.
  • With a team, help lead the redevelopment of existing HR reports to SAP SuccessFactors Stories, including data mapping, prototyping, testing, and deployment to support greater adoption by the Analytics team and other City user groups
  • Collaborate with IT, BI developers, data architects, and HR business partners to define reporting requirements, validate data flows, and ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, reporting standards, and governance practices to support report lifecycle management and long-term adoption.
  • Support end-user readiness through training, knowledge transfer, and change-management activities related to Story reporting.

 

Key Qualifications

  1. Deep understanding of SAP SuccessFactors data structures, including EC and MDF relationships, with experience using the OData API Dictionary and API endpoints.
  2. Technical development experience with SAP SuccessFactors reporting tools, including Story, Canvas, and Integration Center.
  3. Hands-on configuration experience in SuccessFactors, including Manage Data, Configure Object Definitions, Manage Business Configuration, and related admin tools.
  4. Demonstrated experience developing technical documentation, such as functional specifications, data mappings, transformation logic, data flow diagrams, ERDs, and user guides.
  5. Experience conducting complex HR master data analysis, data validation, and quality assurance activities.
  6. SAP SuccessFactors certifications in Employee Central, Reporting, Recruiting, or related modules are considered strong assets.
  7. Strong User Acceptance Testing (UAT) experience, including test case development, output validation, and defect management.
  8. Proven project management and consulting skills, with experience managing stakeholders, negotiating timelines, and translating business needs into technical solutions.
  9. Experience with SAP HCM On-Premise configuration is considered a strong asset.
  10. Knowledge of HR business processes and policies, with prior HR experience considered an asset.
  11. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  12. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  13. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
