Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager Information Services (Sustainment Manager) as part of the Business and Technology Transformation branch under Parks and Recreation, the Senior Systems Integrator is responsible of establishing and managing the Staff and System Support business process. The role’s focus will be on providing direction, leadership and guidance on the newly launched registration and booking system to offer incident management and system sustainment. The Senior Systems Integrator will provide specialized technical and business consulting skills and services, ensuring strategic alignment with divisional goals.
Major Responsibilities:
- Leads, facilitates and contributes to the design, creation, evaluation, development and sustainment of systems and standards, including solution management and business process design/updates required as a result of implementing the registration and booking system.
- Designs and executes the support process including software and hardware support and ticket management.
- Responsible to senior management, business and technical stakeholders for all aspects of incident management and system sustainment for the registration booking system.
- Negotiates with senior management, clients and various stakeholders often with competing and conflicting goals, objectives and priorities.
- Communicates effectively and in a timely manner to stakeholders and Staff for incident management and technical support.
- Identifies and analyzes current business processes and practices in the context of evolving information architecture, technology architecture and performance measures; prepares feasibility study and recommends overall business improvement. Manages the relationship with the vendor to ensure SLAs are met regarding incidents management and support and system performance.
- Provides leadership in the evaluation, selection and recommendation of technical solutions and professional services; manages vendors and contractors in the overall solution delivery process.
- Develops, manages and reports on detailed operations and project plans as well as Capital budgets.
- Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.
- Supervises the day to day operation of all assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work. Authorizes and co-ordinates vacation and overtime requests. Monitors and evaluates staff performance, approves salary increments, hears grievances and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.
- Oversees recruitment selection, labour relations issues, performance appraisal, training and professional development for assigned staff
- Provides assessments and recommendations of new technology trends on the effective use, acquisition and integration of technology by the City
- Leads the testing and quality assurance process. Creates and designs application testing processes to monitor system functionality. Ensures products are entirely functional.
- Recommends and implements security, privacy and quality assurance requirements consistent with both the Municipal Freedom of Information Privacy and Protection Act (MFIPPA), and corporate and legislated standards regarding the storage, processing and retention of confidential data.
- Leads project sub-teams to determine requirements, researches, evaluates, designs, develops and/or acquires, implements and provides technical and business support for application software and information solutions to meet business unit requirements.
- Maintains knowledge of current and emerging information management concepts and technologies including cloud-based solutions and services, web portals, data migration, business/data modelling methodologies, in order to provide support for a multi-tiered, multi-platform, network centric computing environment.
- Informs and educates senior management, business users and technology peers on new technology trends on the effective use of business and technology solutions and information management, acquisition and integration of technology by the City, including determining requirements, conducting research and evaluations and obtaining all approvals and signoffs.
Key Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary education in computer science or related discipline or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Extensive Customer Service experience in information technology in a business environment, including reviewing and analyzing customer needs.
- Considerable incident management experience in all stages of complex information management projects.
- Considerable experience supervising technical staff and coaching internal business and technical teams.
- Experience in planning and organizing operational sustainment of business applications.
- Knowledge of current and emerging information management concepts and technologies including agile development methodology, cloud-based solutions and services, web portals, data migration, business/data modelling methodologies, Enterprise Application Integration, business intelligence and decision support for a multi-tiered, multi-platform, network centric computing environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective relationship with corporate clients, external stakeholders and vendors.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation in the area of Occupational Health & Safety, Employment Standards Act, Accessibility (AODA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection (MFIPPA), and collective agreements in a supervisory capacity as it relates to the role.
