Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, and continuous learning, and encourages innovation in others.
  • Leads a team of technicians to design, setup, and maintain a mobile computing infrastructure, including cell phones, pagers, tablets, and workstation computers in the Toronto Paramedic Service IT unit.
  • Leads a team of technicians to support and troubleshoot several mobile applications, including Mobile CAD, Zoll ePCR, Supervisor Tools, GPS tracking, Afaria.
  • Support and maintain a mission critical CAD system, include VMWare cluster, Windows servers, MS SQL server, Windows Active directory on a 7*24 basis.
  • Support CAD and maintain applications, like VisiCAD, Optima, ProQA, PDS, Locution,  OneDesk App, Korono,  and Tele staff.
  • Support and maintain system management and security servers, like Symantec, BeyondTrust, WSUS.
  • Manage the Life Cycle Support for Division’s Mobile communication system and endpoint devices.
  • Develop requests for Quotation as required for miscellaneous equipment and parts used to support the Division’s Mobile Communication endpoint device and system.
  • Maintains required records and inventories using approved software tools.
  • Investigates and initiates action on user complaints
  • Ensures compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, other related provincial regulations, and corporate and departmental safety standards and procedures
  • Identifies project work and initiates the requisition of approved resources Implements trial evaluations of communications products
  • Maintain good vendor relationships.
  • Provide suggestions on strategic development in Division’s mobile communication system.
  • Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.

 

 

Key Qualifications:

 

  1. Post-secondary education of experience working on information technology projects, or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 
  2. Extensive experience supporting Mobile computing endpoint device, including IOS, Android, and Windows-based devices, as well as cellular data modems.
  3. Considerable experience in supporting Cellular communication device management, including Windows-based remote management software, proprietary cellular device management software, and Cell phone management software, e.g. Airwatch and private APN.
  4. Considerable experience working in public safety Computer Aid Dispatching environment, including VMWare, MS SQL Server, Windows server OS.
  5. Extensive understanding of public safety vehicle electronic and IT equipment specification and architecture, including but not limited to light and Siren, vehicle status reporting, on vehicle GPS reporting devices.
  6. Must possess a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and establish good working relationships with staff at all levels in the organization as well as external clients.
  8. Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with various levels of staff within the City and other organizations.
  9. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines under time constraints.
  10. Ability to work overtime or work at remote sites when required.
  11. Familiarity with government legislation in the area of Occupational Health and Safety.
  12. CompTia A+ Certificate or equivalent industry credential is an asset,
  13. CompTia network+ Certificate or equivalent industry credential is an asset,
  14. Considerable experience in the government cellular device procurement process is an asset.
