  • Participates in the development and implementation of detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements for Community, Health & Wellbeing (CHW) programs and services
  • Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others
  • Supervises the day-to-day operation of all assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work. Authorizes and coordinates vacation and overtime requests. Monitors and evaluates staff performance, approves salary increments, hears grievances and recommends disciplinary action when necessary
  • Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations. Contributes to the development of annual program plans including the identification of required fiscal and human resources
  • Provides case management/ operational supervision and consultation to staff and colleagues as required
  • Identifies and acts to correct areas that compromise workplace health and safety in situations where staff work alone, in community settings during evenings and weekends and/ or in non-public places such as client homes
  • Collaborates with the Manager to plan, develop, coordinate, evaluate and ensure that the CHW programs/ services fulfill and are in compliance with provincial requirements set out in the Health Protection and Promotion Act, the Ontario Public Health Standards, the Board of Health and City Council directives
  • Works with the Manager to implement and monitor a variety of information systems to track program deliverables and staff/ time activities to enhance program and fiscal accountability
  • Contributes to the analysis and utilization of research to identify issues, trends, gaps, best practices and innovative approaches to CHW service delivery.
  • Contributes to quality assurance and improvement initiatives related to CHW service delivery
  • Ensures the maintenance of staff/ office compliance with all corporate and provincial legislation, such as the Ontario Human Rights Code, Workplace Harassment Policy, Confidentiality, Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Professional Standards of Practice
  • Establishes effective working relationships with a variety of partners (e.g. employees, management, divisional and corporate staff, external and agencies/ organizations)
  • Prepares reports, business cases and briefing notes as required
  • Resolves complaints and/ or service issues as required
  • Participates in the development and implementation of Toronto Public Health¿s emergency response plan
  • Provides absence coverage for CHW, as needed

 

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. A Masters degree in Health Sciences and/or an equivalent combination of education and extensive experience in a field relevant to the position.
  2. Extensive experience managing complex projects.
  3. Considerable experience in developing programs, policies, and procedures.
  4. Considerable experience in leading and organizing complex projects, effectively managing and meeting timelines for concurrent projects.
  5. Experience supervising or leading staff and teams in a health related field.
  6. Possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle.
  7. Knowledge of collective agreements, guidelines, policies and relevant legislation including Employment Standards Act and Occupational Health & Safety Act. 
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  9. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Visio.
  10. Ability to successfully initiate and manage change.
  11. Ability to prepare reports and deliver effective presentations.
  12. Ability to analyze and utilize research to identify issues, trends and best practices.
  13. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
