Major Responsibilities:
- Supervises staff in the delivery of the assigned projects
- Manages and is accountable for the operations of the unit, sets and manages organizational performance and quality standards and expectations ensuring that assigned projects conform with set standards
- Supervises, supports, develops and motivates subordinates Sets and manages performance expectations for staff
- Ensures effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, client service, continuous learning and staff development
- Supports and promotes the Division's vision, strategic plan and change initiatives through leadership, participation, communication with direct reports and application of functional policy
- Provides input to the annual unit operating budget ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved limitations
- Develops and manages client and stakeholder expectations and relationships through effective service agreements, communication and monitoring of commitments and obligations
- Represents the Division/Cluster/Corporation at a variety of meetings with clients, stakeholders and service providers
- Accountable for the provision of hardware and system support for niche software applications used within the division as part of service delivery
- Accountable for coordination of unit activities with the I&T Division
- Accountable for the provision of business analysis, software system, development, maintenance and end user support for niche engineering and divisional service delivery
Key Qualifications:
- A post secondary degree or diploma in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable experience in supervising broad scale projects in an information technology environment.
- Experience in supervising staff and leading project teams in a hybrid work environment across multiple work locations.
- Considerable experience in supporting large enterprise-scale solutions, with a proven record of ability to troubleshoot issues, log problems with solution vendors, and advance cases to resolution with escalated attention.
- Considerable experience providing IT technical support of desktop software, web applications, hardware, mobile wireless devices, network connections, printers, servers, large-format plotters, and multi-function devices
- Considerable experience in the support of Computer-Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) platforms such as Bentley or AutoCAD
- Liaison between Corp-IT and ECS for LCM Servers, Sustainment of ECS Assets and asset tracking
- Considerable experience in managing and tracking large portfolios of IT hardware and software assets.
- Experience evaluating and monitoring software maintenance contracts to ensure continual support coverage, and ensure procurements are handled in accordance with established procedures.
- Experience in developing cost benefit analyses and proposed solutions for budget projections.
- Excellent, interpersonal, problem solving, negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
- Highly developed communication skills both orally and in writing at all organization levels.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with ability to provide documentation and reports on problems, and to deal effectively with all levels of management and staff
- Excellent customer service, quality assurance and continuous improvement skills and knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Ability to train, develop, and evaluate performance of staff, motivate a diverse workforce, promote and foster effective teamwork, and establish excellence in a customer service-oriented environment.
- Ability to establish effective and strong working relationships and trust with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to develop project plans, RFP's, and budget projections.
- Ability to work in a highly demanding work environment with many competing priorities and deadlines and handle day to day personnel and labour relations issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of government legislation and policy in the areas of labour, occupational health and safety and human rights.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License
