Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Systems Integrator, Business Intelligence (BI) & Data Services, Systems Integrator 1 (Data Warehouse Admin) will provide expertise and advice related to the Data warehouse (DW) environment sustainment / configuration and support along with maintaining implemented data extracts- transform-load (ETL) solutions and Databases for Toronto Public Health information technology systems and solutions. This Systems Integrator 1 (Data Warehouse Admin) takes initiative and is able to lead the planning, documenting and ongoing support activities of various software systems, with an emphasis on: Data Warehouse (DW) applications sustainment & process review, software deployment and administration, creation & execution of automation scripts / test plans, implementing software version (patches) update, reviewing and updating DW procedures, and recommending changes to improve service delivery. Additionally, this DW admin must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with various business, TPH IT, and Corporate IT partners. All activities performed must adhere to established TPH and City of Toronto (CoT) policies and procedures.

 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, support & implement Oracle Enterprise Data warehouse (EDW) related applications, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE); Map viewer, Oracle Web Logic server; Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), and data integration via Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) environment for all stages (Development, Test / UAT, Production).
  • Using Oracle OBIEE repository (RPD) to create, customize and maintain the End User Layers (Presentation Layer, Physical layer, Business Model & Mapping Layer), creates / updates business subject areas and folders, and defines analytical facilities (semantic layer) for end users, control & maintain the user access.
  • Analyzes and develops standard and ad-hoc/BI reports using Oracle tools (OBIEE).
  • Evaluates the performance, systems log, installs and configures multi-tiered Oracle Application Server (OAS), Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) and Oracle data integrator (ODI) environment on Linux platform.
  • Identifies risks and prepares action plans to mitigate.
  • Liaises and co-ordinates with internal & external groups / vendors on accomplishment of deliverables.
  • Prepares and presents status report of DW environments and explanation for variances, issues, projects or work packages.
  • Prepares findings & “Lessons Learned” from post-implementation reviews, trouble shootings and root-cause analysis
  • Assesses, analyzes, evaluates and recommends process & policy alternatives for BI & DW projects & work packages.
  • Assist in preparation of DW Logical Data Models and Design documents for proposed solutions that leverage existing DW Start Schema model.
  • Updates / maintains Data Warehouse databases / data models using Data modelling tool; Ensures data integrity and validation rules in ETLs
  • Provides input to BI & DW development team on transformation of clients’ business requirements.
  • Recommends improvements to current methodology, process, standards, and policies.
  • Assists staff in development implementation for OBIEE, ODI and repository (RPD) using MUD (multi-user development) environment.
  • Liaises with staff in development of test strategy, test cases & test scripts for system performance, usability and acceptance testing of system solutions developed.
  • Leads team to draft implementation & rollout strategies and plans.
  • Conducts walk-through of deliverables to identify potential problems.
  • Prepares training material and documentation for use by end users and staff.
  • Collaborates with clients on “Go/No Go” cut-over decisions, e.g., rollouts.

 

 

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

 

  1. University degree in computer science or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Considerable experience in Oracle RDBMS PL/SQL applications, and shell scripts.
  3. Considerable experience in developing / maintaining reports using Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) suites in both transactional and data warehouse environments.
  4. Considerable experience with Oracle database (OLTP and OLAP) and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) ETL tool, both in administration and development capacity. 
  5. Considerable experience in BI Administration Tool (RPD)and OBIEE security setup including LDAP (e-Directory, AD) integration
  6. Extensive experience in OBIEE & ODI Administration, performance monitoring/tuning, managing Oracle WebLogic, troubleshooting Load Balancer / network issues in multi-tier High-availability architecture.

 

You must also have:

  • Technical knowledge for Oracle BI, ODI and J2EE/WebLogic applications and in security components.
  • Ability to install, configure and administer the Oracle Fusion Middleware (OFM) in enterprise environment on UNIX/Linux server operating systems.
  • Ability to work with Oracle 19c sustainment, implementation and integration with single sign-on authentication mechanisms including MSAD, LDAP, e-Directory, Oracle Internet Directory.
  • Ability to perform logical and physical application server designs, develop and implement procedures that support, maintain and enhance the Oracle Fusion Middleware (OFM) / Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), OBIEE & ODI environment, including developing Automated Scripts/ procedures and portlets.
  • Ability to develop and implement procedures that enable proactive problem detection and avoidance, including disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Ability to work effectively with a group of multidisciplinary staff in a project team setting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, listening and interacting skills are essential.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work with competing demands prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
