About the Role:
Digital Transformation TCS of the City of Toronto is currently looking for a Systems Integrator 1 to join its award-winning Solution Development Services team. In this dynamic and fast-paced role, you will be a key member of a tight-knit, cross-functional team of technology professionals. We collaborate to build and support innovative web and mobile first solutions that deliver real values to our clients.
As a Systems Integrator 1, reporting to the Senior Systems Integrator, you will be providing services in all aspects of Web and mobile application development, including business requirements analysis, system analysis, prototyping, application design, Java and mobile programming, data modelling and database development, testing, documentation, deployment preparation, roll-out, and sustainment and enhancements in a complex computing environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains business relationships with clients to discuss/assess clients' needs.
- Prepares project charter, statements of work and project plans.
- Identifies risks and prepares action plans to mitigate.
- Conducts or leads team in delivery of projects or work packages.
- Liaises and co-ordinates with internal & external groups on accomplishment of deliverables.
- Prepares and presents status report and variance explanation for projects or work packages.
- Designs and develops business solutions that comply with access and privacy legislation and/or provincial standards.
- Assesses, analyzes, evaluates and recommends process & policy alternatives for projects & work packages.
- Redesigns business principles, processes, policies and standards by recommending best practices and improvements to current processes.
- Determines business requirements and builds consensus amongst clients.
- Prepares Business Plans, Gap Analysis, Logical Data Models and Design documents for proposed solutions that leverage information & technology as part of the solution.
- Provides input to Data Management teams on transformation of clients’ business requirements.
- Recommends improvements to current methodology, process, standards, and policies.
- Assists staff in understanding of business processes and logic.
- Liaises with staff in development of test strategy, test cases & test scripts for system, performance, usability and acceptance testing of system solutions developed.
- Provides application maintenance and enhancement to meet changing business needs.
- Conducts walk-through of deliverables to identify potential problems.
- Prepares training material and documentation for use by clients and staff.
- Conducts training for client and their staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in computer science, software engineering, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Considerable experience in system analysis, requirement analysis, application design, coding and unit testing, troubleshooting, and production deployment and support.
- Considerable experience in front end development using HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Node.js, and a frontend framework such as Angular or React.
- Considerable experience in database techniques such as SQL, Oracle database, together with a basic understanding of NoSQL and PostgreSQL.
- Experience in Java, Unix / Linux, and modern DevOps and CI/CD process.
- Experience in Agile software development and related collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA.
You must also have:
- Excellent communication skills to prepare and present technical materials and to work effectively with all team members and stakeholders.
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective consulting relationships with clients and vendors.
- Teamwork skills to work with a group of multidisciplinary staff in a project team setting.
- Technical knowledge of developing security components for web based applications.
- Ability to prepare functional specifications, system and user documentation and provide consultation and training to users.
- Fundamental knowledge in establishing and maintaining the appropriate technical programming and development environments.
- Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, including mobile application development, application security best practices, and authentication and authorization principles.
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of DevOps, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), and test automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Time management and organizational skills to work with competing demands, and to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of developing, deploying, administering, and managing Cloud based solutions and platforms such as AWS and Salesforce.
- Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other regulations/legislation that apply to the job duties.
