To assist with coordination and directly deliver residential outreach at public events for Toronto Water relating to the HTO TO Go Water Trailer, Environment Days and various trade shows. Events occur at various locations and many take place on weekends and evenings.
The work is performed under general instruction, but not necessarily under continual supervision. The work can be at various indoor and outdoor locations, within the City of Toronto borders. The work is prone to seasonal fluctuations.
Please note current location is 545 Commissioners Street, there may be a shift to 1026 Finch Ave W, Finch Yard in a few months.
Major Responsibilities:
- Displays and provides information to the public regarding Toronto Water programs and services
- Loads and unloads trailers with signage, information and miscellaneous materials for public events
- Provides vehicular and pedestrian traffic control
- Maintains display literature and keeps supplies available for public to take
- Takes inventory of supplies and estimates information needed for next venue to secure ample distribution materials
- Reads reports, memos, articles and brochures relating to the position to keep up-to-date and become more fully informed
- Dismantles displays and packs up literature, displays, etc. at the closing of an event
- May assist with various HTO TO GO Water Trailer projects
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Experience in providing excellent customer service and dealing with members of the public.
- Experience and proficiency working with various software applications such as MS Office Suite (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) and utilizing databases and work order systems to generate reports.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Provincial of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and must qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and certificates required for this work (trailers under 4600kg and pickup truck).
You must also have:
- Knowledge of Toronto Water programs, services, policies and water issues such as water efficiency, storm water management, and water quality
- Strong understanding of complexities and risks associated with running water trailer program and an ability to act accordingly when making operational decisions
- Ability to safely drive and manage HTO To GO water trailers as a core function of the role, including loading, off-loading and setting up trailer at events
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to write in clear and legible manner
- Ability to perform with minimal supervision
- Must be available to work overtime as required and report to various work locations in a timely manner
- Ability to work as a team player and team leader
- Must be physically capable of performing required duties, including ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
