Reporting to the Manager, Capital Planning, Toronto Water, the Research Analyst 1 provides research, analysis, and data management related to the Toronto Water Capital program and budget, this position is responsible for the following.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Collects, analyzes, evaluates and interprets information/findings to develop recommendations for improvement to existing Departmental processes and activities.
  • Prepares and analyzes data and undertakes analyses to support financial planning and reporting on Toronto Water’s capital program.
  • Prepares, evaluates and organizes information internally and with other Divisions to support Toronto Water financial reporting and capital coordination activities.
  • Collects, maintains and analyzes data to support the coordination of Toronto Water’s Capital program
  • Undertakes analyses and assists in preparing regular updates and summaries to senior management.
  • Ensures accuracy of financial information by undertaking required data updates and checks.
  • Provides support on regular financial and capital expenditure reporting.
  • Participates in problem solving and coordinates solutions.
  • Acts as a liaison between other sections within the Division.

 

 

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. Post-secondary education in a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Considerable analytical and research skills; ability to work with complex databases in different formats; utilize MS Excel to interpret and manage large volumes of data with efficiency, to summarize findings and prepare a variety of analytical reports including visual enhancements such as tables, charts, and graphs.
  3. Considerable experience in research, qualitative & quantitative analysis and preparation of information and reports.
  4. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)

 

You must also have:

  • Knowledge of ESRI geographic information system (GIS) software or similar applications (e.g. QGIS).
  • Knowledge of general infrastructure categories within sewer, water supply, and stormwater infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of competitive procurement process.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills required to prepare documentation, reports, presentations, and training materials.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently with ability to organize and manage projects and processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with all levels of staff in the division and organization and commitment to deliver superior customer service, quality performance and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organization skills to set priorities, plan and execute tasks, meet designated deadlines – often within time restraints.
  • Self-disciplined and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively within a dynamic team setting and/or project environment.
 

A Candidate List will be established and remain in effect for two (2) months after the posted opportunities have been filled.
